If your passport is from any of the countries below, you get up to 90 days in Japan with zero paperwork. Just bring your passport and a return ticket.

Travelers from India, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, Russia, and many African nations need a tourist visa. Apply through your local Japanese embassy or consulate at least 4–6 weeks before travel.
